Here are a few musical Africanisms found in the book I'm reading:

As you can see from these three examples, music today still has the same characteristics of where humans originated from in Africa. We have polyphonic textures, ostinatos with repetition, and what I believe to be most important of all music, the conversational element. Music is considered to be "the universal language" used to communicate across all nationalities. No matter where you come from, all we have to do is listen to your rhythm, your beat, and your voices/instruments to understand what you are trying to communicate to the world.
